Right in the heart of Valencia, in the artistic and vibrant Ruzafa district, there is an apartment with soul<\/strong>where history meets modern design<\/strong>This space, located in a building over a hundred years old, has undergone a complete transformation, blending the charm of the past with the functionality of contemporary interiors.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

An interior design project with history in the background<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Designing this apartment was more than just a project for me \u2014 it was a journey. A meeting with the past, which\u2014though a bit dusty and forgotten\u2014still pulsed within the walls of this historic building. From the very first step, I knew this interior had an incredible potential<\/strong> and could become a unique home in the heart of Valencia.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

From dark rooms to a bright space<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

Originally, the 77-square-meter apartment was divided into small rooms: four bedrooms (three without natural light), two living rooms, a kitchen the size of a closet, a dining room, and a bathroom. The lack of light and the cramped layout prevented the space from breathing.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Preserving the original charm of the apartment was a priority. We restored the historic tiles mosaico hidr\u00e1ulico<\/em>, refreshed the wooden doors, windows, and beams. Our goal was to restore the space, light, and harmony.<\/strong>We demolished the partition walls, opened up the layout, and added balcony windows overlooking the patio. Today, the living area pulses with the rhythm of the city, while the bedrooms are embraced by the tranquility of the inner courtyard. It\u2019s a perfect blend of Valencia\u2019s vibrant energy with privacy and comfort.<\/strong>We also exposed the brick walls to highlight the building\u2019s rich history.<\/p><\/div><\/div><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

With respect for the original<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Preserving the original elements was key for me. We exposed the brick walls and restored the historic mosaico hidr\u00e1ulico tiles<\/strong>, as well as preserved the wooden doors, windows, and beams. Every detail here tells its own story \u2014 giving the interior a unique, authentic character.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Natural color palette and Mediterranean vibe<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The color palette of this apartment wasn\u2019t designed \u2014 it simply happened. The original cement tiles brought in hues of sun-baked sand, deep reds, earth tones, and palm green. These colors created within the space a calm, Mediterranean atmosphere<\/strong>that soothes and embraces.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

The color palette was not a deliberate choice but a natural heritage of the original cement tiles. They reflect the Mediterranean hues of sun-baked sand, deep red, warm brown, and palm green shades, creating a calm and harmonious atmosphere.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Sustainable development played a key role in the interior design. Iconic second-hand furniture, such as Marcel Breuer's Wassily chair and elegant lamps by Jaime Hay\u00f3n, give the space a timeless character. The ensemble is completed by paintings by Gra\u017cyna Smal inspired by the sea, enhancing the artistic and coastal atmosphere of the apartment.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

In the spirit of sustainable interior design<\/strong>,embracing sustainable interior design, I chose second-hand classics.
